Are just two weeks a year enough to satisfy your needs to get away and see the world? Or do you feel a holiday could never be long enough?
Each year, mid way through my annual two week cruise I get that ‘sinking feeling’, I know its fast approaching the end of my time away and that can only mean one thing; I will soon be heading back to reality and back to work with no more than a fading tan and a sprinkling of new freckles as the only evidence I was ever away. If you want to see a lot of newborn sea lion pups, then you need to go to the Galapagos Islands in September.
Since we wanted to use frequent flyer miles for our air, the September timing for our visit was pretty much accidental. It was the only time that the trip schedule fit in with the airline reservations we could get. And we lucked out.
Firstly, though, I have to admit that the Spring is also an excellent time to visit the Galapagos. (…)

Flying for long hours can get really uncomfortable. Knowing the right kind of clothing to wear can really help you relax for the long journey ahead of you. You do not want to wear shoes that are going to be confining because feet normally swell during the flight. Ever since the Hawaiians arrived on the islands, almost after Western contact in the late 1700s-early 1800s, they created images on smooth areas of lava. Considering the fact that these carvings were made without use of metal tools, the accomplishments of Hawaiian appear all the more impressive.

In April, 2004, the FAA updated and revised the Practical Test Standards ( PTS) for the Instrument Rating. The new standards went into effect October 1, 2004. Of particular interest to instrument flight instructors ( CFIIs’) and pilots holding instrument ratings is a substantial change in the requirements for administering an Instrument Proficiency Check ( IPC).
