Albania is a mountainous country and the one of the smallest countries of Europe. The residents supposedly descended from ancient Illyrians.
Culture
The culture of Albania is majorly influenced by that of the mainland Greeks especially in the urban locality; nodding one’s head means ‘no’ where as shaking the head means ‘yes’. To greet someone, handshaking is preferred, though Shoku (Comrade) was used before, which has been long forgotten now. People dress informally here. (…)

Camping hammocks are sweet! The first time I used one was a few years ago up in the Bitterroot Mountains about 2 hours outside of Lewiston, Idaho. I was along with my son’s Boy Scout troop for a 3 day adventure. We hiked about 8 miles the first day, but didn’t make it to our planned camp site. When it started getting dark and everyone was feeling tired, sore, and worn out from a long day on the trail, we decided to just set up camp at a wide spot along the trail. (…)

I remember back in the States I would arrive at the bus stop, check the bus schedule that was posted there and sit down patiently for my bus to arrive. The schedule said that my bus was going to arrive at 9:17 am and sure enough, at 9:16 am, I see it approaching from a block away. I hear that familiar hissing of the breaks as it calmly comes to a stop in front of me and lets me on board. Pulling out once again into traffic, it takes me to where I need to go safely and without hitches. (…)

I still remember my first couple of days of my Spanish immersion program like it was yesterday. I flew into Liberia, Costa Rica at the end of July which is the rainy season. After going through customs and getting my bags I was met by my driver who was holding a big sign with my name on it. Soon we were off to the home of my host family in Santa Rosa which is located a couple of Km from Tamarindo. (…)

I have driven the roads of Germany, Austria, Yugoslavia, Greece, the USA, Australia, Indonesia and India.
While driving in Indonesia was merely harrowing, the experience of driving in Indian traffic has left a permanent imprint on my nervous system.
Well, the intensity of driving in India pales in comparison to that of driving in Costa Rica.
Driving on the roads in Costa Rica is like playing Russian roulette. Is that next bend in the road loaded? (…)

I started taking Spanish classes in Playa Tamarindo, Costa Rica in August of 2006. I had taken a vacation to Costa Rica in 2005 and had spent a few days relaxing on the beach in Tamarindo, so when I decided to learn Spanish in Costa Rica I thought Tamarindo would be a great place to start. It is located on the Pacific coast, in the province of Guanacaste. I knew it was famous as a surfing town and a destination for sun worshipers from all over the world. (…)

The clue’s in the name, as they say: we call this region “Snowdonia Mountains and Coast”, because while our mountains are famous far and wide, people are often surprised to learn that Snowdonia is also home to some of Britain’s most beautiful beaches.
You’ll find all sorts of beaches in Snowdonia. Sandy beaches, pebbly beaches, long beaches, wide beaches. Some are busy; others barely see a soul from one day to the next. (…)

Some people see camping trips as rather solitary pursuits, but I believe that such holidays are all about sharing. The best holidays are often about the people that you’re spending time with, rather than more trivial aspects to such trips.
This is certainly the case when it comes to camping holidays, which often have a much more basic feel to them. When people think about these excursions, they often imagine gathering around the campfire. (…)
