The Island of Hvar is found in Croatia at the Adriatic Sea. This big island covers 80 kilometers both to the east and to the west. This is one of the pillars considered to bring high revenue in terms of foreign exchange by tourists visiting the area. Many of the people who have visited the area have described it as “paradise”. The reason behind this is because it holds many surprises and has diverse natural features that are spectacular to view.

Hvar Island has, over time, been given other names that were determined by the different cultures. In the beginning it was known as Pharos then Piteyeia (Named after a Greek poet) to Pharia and latter on to Fara (this names were given to it when the Romans were in charge of the island). It was called Fara for a long time and latter changed to Hvar islands when the Slavs were brought in during the 16th century. During this period, most of those people who occupied the land were natives from Rome. This was because of the collapse of the Western Roman Empire. The Roman natives were then able to convince the Slavs to change the name to Quarra. This, however, did not last for long because in the 19th century, the Italians gained control over it and latter changed its name to Lesina. The Island was able to maintain this name for sometime but was renamed to Hvar Island.

With is great tourist attraction sites, there are a number of apartments that have been set up in the area to offer accommodation for those who may want to extend their stay at the island. Most of the apartments are facing the sea. Most of the apartments are located along the coastline of the island to attract as much clientele as they possibly can. The island of Dubrovnik also offers a number of accommodations. You can get a villa at Dubrovnik or an apartment or even a studio apartment depending on your choice of preference. Most of the accommodation facilities at Dubrovnik are located slightly further from the beach. A number of guesthouses in the main town cater for people who might be hydrophobic.
